Amnio test says everything is fine...

We got the amniocentesis results back and everything looks fine (99% chance of no genetic problems). The test were done several weeks ago (about week 15 of the pregnancy) and we got verbal results pretty quickly. But it did take several follow-ups and several weeks to get a scanned version of the results. With its success, Rotunda is definitely getting busier...

We shared the results with our local doctor, and she also said everything looks fine.

The amnio is a diagnostic test. It actually checks for chromosomal abnormalities. The triple marker test is a diagnostic test. It looks for indicators of potential abnormalities, without actually checking for abnormalities. Interestingly, in this case, they're both actually giving the same results - 1 in 100 chance of genetic problems. In one case it's considered high risk (the triple marker test) and in the other its considered a good outcome (the amnio test). Need to figure out who decides these things.

So, back to thinking about what we're going to pack for the trip in September, and what paperwork we need to smooth and ease the process...
